From our design studio to our new retail home, Sterling & Maple, it’s been an exciting season of growth and transformation. And as we gather around our tables this Thanksgiving, we can’t help but feel thankful for the opportunity to continue doing what we love: designing beautiful, functional spaces that reflect the way people truly live.

A Season of Growth and Gratitude

This year has been one of milestones for Joshua Allen Design. The biggest, without a doubt, was the opening of Sterling & Maple, our brand-new retail home décor shop and design studio in downtown Sterling. Opening the doors this past summer was more than just a business expansion; it was a way to bring our design philosophy to life in a tangible, everyday way.

Sterling & Maple has quickly become a destination for those who appreciate thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and comfort. It allows our clients and our neighbors to explore curated furniture, lighting, and home décor collections that align perfectly with the JAD aesthetic: timeless, layered, and full of personality.

This Thanksgiving, we’re especially thankful for the community of Sterling, Massachusetts, which has embraced Sterling & Maple with such enthusiasm and support. From local shoppers who stop in for inspiration to long-time JAD clients who visit for design consultations, it’s been heartwarming to see this new chapter come to life.

A Focus on Giving Back

The season of gratitude is also the season of giving, and this November, we’re proud to support Sterling & Maple’s Giving Tuesday initiative, a month-long effort to collect donations for the Sterling Food Bank.

Throughout November, Sterling & Maple served as a drop-off location for nonperishable food and household items to help local families in need. On November 20th, during Sterling & Maple’s VIP Holiday Shopping Event, guests who brought donations received a special thank-you coupon.

For Josh and the JAD team, giving back to Sterling is personal. The community has supported our vision from the beginning, trusting us with their homes, celebrating our projects, and encouraging our growth. This is our way of saying thank you and ensuring that the generosity we’ve received continues to ripple outward.

Looking Ahead to the Holidays

As we move into December, our focus turns toward helping clients prepare their homes for the full holiday season, from fireplace refreshes and winter décor to thoughtful lighting updates that make the darker days feel bright and welcoming.

We also have exciting new arrivals coming into Sterling & Maple, featuring seasonal home accents, cozy textiles, and gift-worthy finds perfect for anyone who loves design. The shop’s shelves are filling with artisan-made pieces and handpicked décor that reflect our love for New England craftsmanship and timeless style.
